This
book was written in response to hundreds of requests from friends and
acquaintances who wanted recipes and ideas on how to prepare tasty
vegan recipes.
We visited a Gold Coast Nutritionist and Live
Blood Analyst, to have a live blood analysis and get some nutritional
advice in 2002.
On completion of the
consultation the Nutritionist gave us a list of foods to eat or avoid
(page 34). I asked him if there were any recipe books published that
followed this nutritional advice. His answer, “Not to my knowledge”.
So
this book “Turn Over a New Leaf” was sprouted from that first meeting.
Over the next two years we experimented and refined the food program to
create an easy to follow eating plan that would give the body the
correct acid/alkaline balance. Vital for perfect health (more
information page 30).
Most of today’s diets are high in fats,
sugars, white flour, processed food, stimulants, and chemicals, the
perfect cocktail for an acidic environment in the body. An acidic body
is the ideal host for the manifestation of disease and many health
problems.
There are so many diets, food programs and articles on
health around these days. How do we know if any of them really work?
Every body is different and there is no perfect food plan to suit
everyone. So it’s wise to seek professional guidance when embarking on
a new eating plan
Remember! There are no rights or wrongs, only consequences.
We
have found that live blood analysis gives instant feedback on our
dietary habits. It gives accurate readings on our body’s protein
levels, acid/alkaline balance, mineral loss, oxidative stress levels
and the presence of specific pathogens (more information page 28)
Mineral
supplementation is vital these days as our intensive farming practices
have depleted our soils of their minerals. So even though we might
think we are eating well our food is not providing a full range of
vitamins and minerals as it did in Grandma’s day (information page 32).
Eating well is only part of creating a perfectly balanced body.
Regular exercise, relaxation and good hydration (page 41) are a must if
you want optimum results from this program. There’s not much point in
eating well if you are going to be a big stress–head or spend your days
sitting around polishing the couch. Everything we think and do in our
life plays a part in our general well being.
