One of the most important things to happen in my local community recently has been the elections, and the re-election of our female Greens mayor Jan Barham, along with her team. Her reinstatement is a clear indication of what values people respect and require in these times, and is another example (as with the Federal election) of the power of the people. And the immediate result is that everyone has a renewed motivation to be actively involved in creating our community and moving forward positively. It is just so gratifying to be part of a community that is prepared to take responsibility for themselves and each other.

| Welcome to The Art of Healing website
The purpose of The Art of Healing is
to INFORM and EDUCATE our readers about health and healing
alternatives, complementary medicine and natural therapies. In each issue, The
Art of Healing reports
on the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and
environmental aspects of wellbeing. The Art of Healing seeks
to provide a balanced presentation of these aspects in support
of a holistic approach, and sees complementary healthcare
and integrative medicine as the way of the future.

Creating Synergy with Yoga by well-known yogi, physiotherapist, and writer Simon Borg-Olivier – along with Bianca Machliss, informs us about how physical yoga can simultaneously relax and rejuvenate when practiced correctly. Mandala Healing looks at relaxation from a different angle altogether using Mandalas.

From Doctor to Patient

Can you trust you are being prescribed medicines based on the best independent information available? Research conducted recently by Australia’s Consumer Association (CHOICE) reveals that drug companies have a major influence on what is prescribed by GPs, and there is also strong evidence that pharmaceutical promotion isn’t in the best interest of consumers.
