What is Raw Cacao
Raw Cacao is now believed to be one of the most nutritionally complex foods on earth. It contains high levels of minerals, antioxidants and bliss nutrients, including anandamide and PEA. Eating Cacao in its raw minimally processed state offers a range of health benefits. These include enhanced brain function, heart support, increased bone density, stress relief, reduced incidence of muscle cramps, pancreatic support and blood sugar regulation, increased iron levels and slowed ageing and aids cancer prevention.
Raw Cacao beans contain 10 grams of flavonol antioxidants per 100 grams, which is an incredible 10%. Research has also demonstrated that the antioxidants in cacao are highly stable and easily available to human metabolism.
In the adjacent table you can see that raw cocoa powder has set the world record for antioxidants with nearly 4 times the amount of antioxidants as Goji Berries. Mesquite and diabetes
Researchers report that mesquite is highly effective in balancing blood sugar. The natural sweetness in the pods comes from fructose. Fructose doesn't require insulin to be metabolised -- making it safe for diabetics. The high rate of dietary fibre, pods are 25% fibre, causes the nutrients in mesquite to be absorbed slowly preventing the spikes and valleys in blood sugar. With a low aglycemic index of 25, mesquite requires a longer time to digest then many grains. The digestive time for mesquite is to 4 to 6 hours unlike wheat that digests in 1 to 2 hours. These factors result in a food that maintains a constant blood sugar for a sustained time and as a result prevents hunger. Carob
As with all the ingredients in Heaven and Health Raw Cacao Chocolate we only use Certified Organic Carob. Carob does not contain cholesterol, caffeine, theobromine, and oxalic acid. Its natural sweetness also reduces the need for big doses of additional calorie-laden sweeteners, as are found in most products made from naturally bitter chocolate. The slightly sweet powder is relatively low in calories, and it is a good source of potassium.
Apart from the health benefits obtained by substituting Carob for synthetic sweeteners in our diet, Carob also has excellent nutritional value. Along with up to 8% protein, it contains Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus, Potassium Manganese, Barium, Copper, Nickel and the vitamins A, B, B2, B3, and D.. One of Carob’s principal medicinal value lies in its high pectin content. Pectin is a gelatinous water soluble substance, valuable for assisting digestion, and protecting
the body naturally against diarrhoea, and bacterial infections. Carob is also used for heartburn, and as an easily digested food. Another valuable component of carob are lignans. Lignans have been found to be antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. They also show anti-cholesterol, anti-cancer, anti-diabetes, antioxidant and anti-lupus benefits. Lignans are phytoestrogens and have been observed to have a protective role against oestrogen-related cancers, and to serve as oestrogen replacement after menopause.
Carob’s tannin content also inhibits bacteria, and can stop certain toxins and free radicals in their tracks, inactivate them, and get the body to discard them. A research study, using carob powder with babies for bacterial or viral diarrhoea, showed recovery within 2 days. Babies treated with conventional medicine took almost twice as long to recover. The babies given carob also regained normal temperature and body weight quicker. The high fibre content of carob, together with the pectin, makes the stomach contents more glutinous, thus deterring the back-flow of acid in the throat.

Dark Agave Syrup
Our Organic Wild Agave Syrup is a delicious, low glycemic index (GI) sweetener that tastes somewhere in between honey and maple syrup. Similar to how a bee creates honey, it is through enzymic action that the complex sugars in fresh agave juice are converted into simple nectar. This minimal processing and minimal heat provides vitamins, minerals and enzymes in agave nectar that are not found in other processed sweeteners. The dark agave syrup is not filtered and has the maximum amount of minerals and other phytonutrients. It has a rich vanilla-like aroma with a deep wild flavour..The main form of carbohydrate in agave syrup is a complex form of fructose called inulin or fructosan. I have been making our Heaven and Health Raw Organic Cacao Chocolate for over six months now and was very pleased to find the information on it’s effectiveness in reducing free radical damage has proved to be totally correct.
